A lovely modern take on the hospitality offered at a traditional Inn located in a beautiful old building, tasteful blending of the old with the new, friendly helpful staff, comfortably grouped seating to relax into, a quiet, tranquil fenced garden. It needs to be fenced in to hide the incongruous, towering, modern office complex located next door. AND within walking distance of Harlow Carr too. There were a number of rooms set up to eat in, one more formal others more relaxed, plenty of space between the tables so that you felt that you still had your own privacy and a good menu and daily offer to choose from. We shared a fried schezuan pepper said starter, it was cooked to perfection, a generous serving, beautifully plated and presented. My husband's pork belly main was sooo tender and tasty, I had to send my venison steak back, despite being cooked to pink perfection it was as tough as old boots, even my second attempt to cut it using a steak knife did not improve the situation. You can't blame the chef for this. The staff were very helpful,, offered me another main option and my lamb was lovely. We shared my chocolate brownie and the coffees were offered as a way of making up for the inconvenience. Our bedroom was cimfortable, relaxing, clean and tucked up in the attic, but still spacious and airy. It really was good value for money. Our room rate included a "continental" breakfast. I would have classified the cereals, yoghurt, fruit juice, toast your own brown or white sliced loaf, pan a chocolate and croissant offer as a "light" breakfast, nothing like the continental breakfasts I've eaten, but as my husband pointed out, it's all about which continent and where you are on that continent breakfast is being served! I'm not a big cereal or bread eater and would loved a slice of cheese, a bit of tomato, some cold meat to bring it closer to my idea of continental, and the coffee being replenished without having to go looking for someone to do this. In a positive note, the croissant was big, warm and crispy on the outside but soft in the middle.
Great lodgings with onsite car parking, bar and restaurant. Rooms spacious and warm.

Love this place. food is amazing , staff friendly, rooms adequate gorgeous building and great location had a great time and many laughs with my sister and we will be back with family
Had a meeting there and stayed 2 nights. Lovely place and is usually busy, food is fantastic. The rooms are clean and nice decorations but it was a little small for me and my partner. Good experience overall and would stay there again.
