My favourite fish and chips - also good value.
This is the only chip shop in the area and I reckon thats the only reason they can keep going. Had two lightly battered fish and chips tonight. Because they were lightly battered we could see just how small the fish actually were. About half an inch thick, an inch and a half wide and five inches long. Really small. The chips were very greasy and cut more like McDonalds fries than chips. We were both left with a mouth full of grease. So much so that my wife went and got a rich tea biscuit to get the feeling of grease out of her mouth! Theres another branch of drakes in Ripon and thats not good either. Perhaps need to change their fish supplier and heat the oil up a bit more. Not good.
Disappointed big time! Chips dry & hard, plenty of black ones (not to my taste). Fish greasy, batter tasted dreadful (oil??) however the fish was okay but we needed to take the batter off completely to make it edible.
Take away.. 17 scouts to cater for.. Friendly staff, great fish and chips, portion size was just right.. everything was great. Thanks.
